The Estonians failed to break into the top 50 at the IBU Cup stage | Biathlon

Estonian biathletes took part in the IBU Cup series stage in Sjusjøen, Norway on Wednesday, but none managed to break into the top 50 in the sprint races.

In the 7.5 km women’s sprint the best result was achieved by Frenchwoman Oceane Michelon, who finished the distance with a time of 21:25.0. Compatriot Jeanne Richard (0+1; +15.0 seconds) was second, and Norway’s Gro Randby (1+0; +17.6) was also in the top three.

Lisbeth Liiv made two errors in the first round, but came through the second round with a clean sheet. In the end the Estonian placed 52nd, losing by three minutes and 30 seconds to the winner. Grete Gaim made a mistake in the first corner and also clearly overtook the second, eventually gaining 59th place (+3.59.7).

Hanna Gunnari was also at the start, but did not finish the race.

In the men’s 10 km sprint, Germany’s Simon Kaiser, who shot perfectly, crossed the finish line with a time of 24:26.4. Behind him were the Norwegians Johan-Olav Botn (0+2; +16.8) and Mats Øverby (1+0; +18.5).

Mehis Udam missed once at both shooting ranges and finished in 51st place (+2.54.7). Jaroslav Neverov made four errors in the first round and missed a point in the second, but still managed to place 66th (+4.04.0). Jüri Uha finished in 77th place (2+1; +4.55.5).

The IBU Cup stage in Sjusjön continues on Friday with the pursuit races.
