The final piece of the Hyundai puzzle in place: Ott Tänak has a new teammate

It was previously clear that Lappi would participate in a half-season next year and will most likely share the car with Dani Sordo. At the same time, there was speculation that Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen would also have the opportunity to test himself with Hyundai.

Now this speculation has been confirmed. Next year Lappi, Sordo and Mikkelsen will share the team’s third bike. According to Hyundai, the role of the three drivers is to support Ott Tänakut and Thierry Neuville in the title competition.

The 34-year-old Mikkelsen has also previously driven the Hyundai Rally1. He was part of the official team from 2017 to 2019. After his experience at Hyundai, Mikkelsen moved to Škoda, where he became world champion in the WRC2 class in 2021 and 2023.

Mikkelsen is very excited about the opportunity to drive a Rally1 car again. “We have fought hard since 2019 to return to the top of the sport. I am very happy to be able to do this at Hyundai. I will grab this opportunity with both hands and make the most of it. I thank Hyundai for believing in us,” commented Mikkelsen.
