The football legend, suffering from an incurable disease, has expressed his last wish

The former England manager said in a candid interview with Sweden’s national broadcaster that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Now Eriksson has told Sky Sports what his last wish is. The Swede would like to see the friendly between England and Brazil on March 23 at Wembley Stadium.

“I hope to get to the match. This is a big match, a preparation for the World Cup and maybe even a preliminary battle for the (2026) World Cup final,” Eriksson said.

The Swede added that his second dream, linked to Liverpool, unfortunately will not come true.

“My dad is still a Liverpool fan and so am I. I’ve always wanted to be Liverpool manager. It will not happen. But he will still remain a fan, “confirmed the Swede.

Eriksson has had a great coaching career. In 1982 he led IFK Göteborg to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and has worked at top Italian clubs since the mid-1980s. He coached Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio. He took the latter to both the Italian champion and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Series winner.

From 2001 to 2006, Eriksson served as head coach of the England national team. Since 2007 he has coached Manchester City, Mexico and Ivory Coast, Leicester City and various Chinese clubs. Last time, the old master worked as sports director of Karlstad FK, but illness forced him to abandon this job.
