The Kopli Rescue Command continues its activities under the leadership of the City of Tallinn

When it became clear in the autumn that the rescue services intended to close down the Kopli commando, the city of Tallinn declared itself ready to contribute to the survival of the commando itself. Tiit Terik, deputy mayor of Tallinn, said in Delf today that the city had proposed to Riigi Kinnisvara AS in December to hand over the Kopli command building to the city. It will take more time to make a decision on the move, but a lease offer has been made to the council to begin with. However, negotiations for the relocation of the building continue, as the city intends to continue there with the same activities previously carried out by the rescue agency.

In addition to the real estate issue, the city will also have to understand how to organize construction activities in the future. For this, the city has collaborated with three NGOs, which have the necessary expertise to organize volunteer commandos: Voluntary Reserve Rescue Group, Tallinna Tulestäussähühing and Lille Asumiselts. Together we will examine how to manage the command in the most reasonable way. Here, according to Terik, in addition to activity planning, legal aspects must also be taken into account: in addition to the rescue law, the law on the organization of local authorities must also be taken into account.
