The opening race of the biathlon World Cup, which was supposed to take place on Thursday in Oberhof, Germany, has been postponed by a day to Friday.
The men’s 10km sprint scheduled for Thursday was postponed due to bad weather. The local weather service forecasts hot weather, rain and strong winds in Oberhof for Thursday.
According to the new competition schedule, the men’s sprint will start on Friday at lunchtime at 12:20. The new ETV live broadcast start time will be announced periodically. The starting time of the women’s 7.5km sprint remained the same, i.e. Friday at 3.25pm. ETV’s live broadcast starts 10 minutes earlier, at 3.15pm.
After the stages of Östersund, Hochfilzen and Lenzerheide, the Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö (484 points) and the French Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (427 points) lead the general classification of the MK series among men. Norwegians Tarjei Bö and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold are in first place in the sprint competition rankings.
Due to the heat, rain and strong gusts of wind forecast for tomorrow, the men’s sprint in Oberhof has been moved to Friday 5 January 2024.
