According to Polish media, the 37-year-old former ski jumper’s heart stopped. Although the medical staff did their best, unfortunately it was not possible to save his life. The exact causes of cardiac arrest are being clarified.
Mateusz was once considered Poland’s most talented ski jumper and the successor to Adam Małysz.
Rutkowski won the world junior title in 2004. In the same competition he also won the silver medal as a team with the Polish team. In the MK series, Rutkowski’s best result was 15th place.
There is information on the Internet that he was kicked out of the Polish national ski jumping team after the 2004/2005 season due to problems with alcohol, weight and lack of discipline.
