The Prosecutor’s Office asks for 28 years in prison for Darja Trepova, accused of having blown up the war correspondent Tatarski

“The examined evidence is sufficient to conclude that Trepova is guilty of the crime of which she is accused. /…/ I consider it legal and justified to sentence the accused in the form of deprivation of liberty /…/ to 28 years in a colony” , said prosecutor Nadezhda Tikhonova.

Furthermore, Tikhonova is asking for a fine of 800,000 rubles (around 8,000 euros).

The prosecutor noted that Trepova’s version that she was not aware of the explosive contained in the figurine brought to the meeting with Tatarsky was carefully checked, but was not confirmed.

“In front of [Trepova] understood that he was essentially carrying out the task of a person, an order, who opposes the conduct of a special military operation and the policy of the Russian Federation and is a resident of Ukraine,” the indictment reads.

The prosecutor’s office is asking for one year and ten months in prison for Dmitri Kassintsev, accused of hiding Trepova after the explosion. According to Tikhonova, Kassintsev knew about the crime committed by Trepova, but on several occasions provided false information to law enforcement agencies.

Trepova is accused of an act of terrorism, illegal use of an explosive substance and use of a known forged document to cover up another crime.

According to the prosecution, on April 2 last year, Trepova handed Fomin an explosive device disguised as a statuette in a bar located on the Universitetskaya bank in St. Petersburg. As a result of the explosion, Fomin was killed and 52 other people who attended his event were injured.

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee had previously announced that the terrorist act was planned by Ukrainian special services. According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), the figurine was delivered to Trepova by a Ukrainian citizen, Yuri Denisov, who left Russia on April 3.
