The Transport Authority warns: road conditions are difficult, there is a lot of loose snow and blizzards on the road

The Transport Authority warns that traffic will be difficult on main and secondary roads early on Friday morning. Road surfaces are mostly snow-covered and icy in western and southern Estonia. The largest precipitation area is currently in northern Estonia, where there is a lot of loose snow and blizzards on the roads.

According to the weather forecast, today the weather will be cloudy. It’s snowing and windy in Hoot. The wind from the south-west and west blows at 4-9 m/s, gusts 14 m/s. On the islands and on the coast the wind from the west and north-west blows at 9-14 m/s, sometimes up to 20 m/s. In the evening the wind weakens.

The air temperature varies from 0 to -6 degrees, in the evening the temperature remains around -10 degrees. Road conditions are changeable and road surfaces are snow-covered and icy.

In Harju County, the installation of gantries continues on the stretch between Väo and Jüri on the Tallinn ring road (km 3-10). On the work stretch the left lane is closed and the speed limit is 70 km/h.

The Transport Authority reminds that the road user must choose a driving speed suitable for the road and weather conditions and their driving experience.
