Karol Mets and St. Pauli survived a small scare in the German Cup series, but finally gained the lead against Homburg in the Regionalliga with the score 4:1 and reached the quarterfinals.

Mets responded with a free kick to Sascha Burchert, who was in goal, from the corner of the penalty area, but the experienced goalkeeper, who has not yet entered the field in league matches this season, did not could take into account the hilly grass terrain of the Waldstadion. The ball bounced high off the ground and also off Burchert’s leg, Homburg captain Markus Mendler was first on the line and pushed the ball into the net from a meter away.

After the break, S. Paul’s coach Fabian Hürzeler made two changes, and Tunisian Elias Saad, who arrived on the field, played an important role in restoring success.
