The VAT increase is coming: what should entrepreneurs consider?

Numerous changes in accounting are expected starting next year. What to take into account when the VAT rate changes and how to prepare for the increase in the dividend tax rate at the beginning of the following year, we will talk about it in the latest content marketing program of Äripää radio.

Enno Lepvalts, director and founder of the accounting firm Vesiir, emphasizes in the program that the first thing to pay attention to is the new year.

If the goods or services are delivered in December, but the invoice is issued in January, the VAT rate is still 20%, not 22%. The 20% VAT rate also applies to the advance received in December.

There is also talk of taxation of dividends. Lepvalts points out that if the company plans to pay the dividend in December 2024 rather than 2025, today is the last time to check whether there is enough profit to pay early. This is because the dividend can be paid from profits from past periods.

The show is hosted by Hando Sinisalu.
