Timo Tatar is no longer a candidate for the position of vice-chancellor of Energy Economics

The Ministry of Climate announces a competition for the position of Vice Chancellor for Energy and Mineral Resources, the current Vice Chancellor Timo Tatar is not applying for this position.

Climate Minister Kristen Michal told ERR that Tatar told her he would no longer run for vice-chancellor once his five-year term expired. According to Michal, Tatar has done good work in the energy field, and his knowledge and contacts in Estonia and the EU have brought great benefits to the country and the sector.

“For example, a recent large process – the preparation and direction of the program for the desynchronization of the Baltic states from Russia and the process of synchronization of continental Europe. Or, for example, planning of the future solution for capabilities managed by L ‘Estonia in the near future, for which today the government decided to send a bill to the National Assembly. From the nuclear field to mineral resources, undoubtedly a large portfolio, in which the people and the field are guarded with heart” , Michal listed Tatar’s results.

According to Michal, for the vice-chancellor competition the Ministry of Climate is looking for anyone with practical knowledge, management experience and the courage to think independently and critically.

“And the desire to get a moderate salary and a little higher ratings from everyone who knows more or thinks like this when it comes to a vital field in Estonia: energy and mineral resources,” Michal said .

For some time Timo Tatar has been one of the most influential development leaders in the energy field in Estonia. Tatar has been working as Vice Chancellor of Energy (formerly at the Ministry of Energy) since 2019. Previously, he was the head of the Energy Department of the Ministry of Energy.
