TSA/Cityteed gave a powerful storm warning in the championship, Keandra Koorits made a powerful performance in Latvia

The week began in Rapla, as Rapla Basketball School (7-4) earned a 74:53 victory over Keila Basket (1-9). The home team, which committed significantly fewer turnovers (15-28), was clearly more than three seconds in terms of points scored (40:16) and points gained from opponent turnovers (18:5).

Lisandra Vetesina, who scored 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 interceptions, was the most successful of Rapla, who outscored the opponent 42:6 in substitute scoring, Keit Liis Kõiv and Lorelii Estaal both equally collected 12 points and 3 interceptions.

As Keila Basket’s standout, Kristel Talv scored 21 points and 9 rebounds, Ieva Malkevica contributed 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Merilyn Närep scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 interceptions.

The most one-sided game of the week was played on Wednesday, when TSA/Cityteed (8-1) defeated Luunja Basketball Women (8-3) 94:41 away from home. The points from the three-second area lean 50:10 in favor of the winners, while the points from opponent turnovers 53:12.

Maarja Grünmann, the most productive of the winners, scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 4 interceptions, Laura Liisa Grünmann added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 interceptions, Sofia Kosareva and Janne Pulk both contributed 14 points, Kätlin Kangur collected 11 points, 11 assists and 4 interceptions and Anna-Liisa Vannamik scored 10 points and 6 assists.

Maarja Park scored 12 points, Kadri Uiga scored 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Kadri-Ketter Kont and Liina Vähi scored 8 points each for the Luunja women’s basketball team.

The OSK/Vesiir women’s basketball team (6-5) won the table on Thursday, beating the University of Tartu (4-7) at home 71:52. OSK, limited to just ten turnovers, scored more under the basket (32:16) and also outpaced its opponents in terms of points scored off turnovers (15:7).

Kerli Haas excelled on the winning side with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks, Anastassia Ptitsňa added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, Kadri Pärnpuu collected 13 points and 7 rebounds and Mariann Adelbert scored 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Tatjana Drozdova was the top scorer of Tartu University with 12 points, Belinda Lepmets added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, Viktoria Kisseljova scored 9 points and 5 assists, Simona Bartkova got 8 points and 17 rebounds (7 of which from the offensive board) and Gritt Kumari also scored 8 points.

The last match of the week took place on Friday in Pärnu, when Pärnu Sports School (3-8) defeated the women’s team TalTech BS/Siili PK/TSK (0-11) 78:39. The home women’s team did better in the area under the basket 60:22 and earned 38 points from opponent turnovers (TalTech 10).

On the winning side, Jessica Ristimets was the most successful with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 interceptions, Katariina Rõngelep scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 interceptions, and Hiie Vent contributed 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 wiretaps.

On the TalTech BS/Siili PK/TSK side, Elerin Meier scored 14 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 3 assists and made 3 steals, and Lisa Sirgi contributed 13 points, 16 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

Four games are also scheduled for the new week, when University of Tartu (4-7) – Rapla Basketball School (7-4) will face each other on Tuesday, Luunja Basketball Women’s Team (8-3) – The OSK women’s basketball team on Wednesday /Vesiir (6-5) will play the clash between Keila Basket (1-9) and Pärnu Sports School (3-8) on Thursday and on Friday TalTech BS/Siili PK/TSK (0-11) will host the TSA/Cityteed women’s team ( 8-1), second in the standings.

Audentes Sports Gymnasium (2-5), which plays in the second division of the Latvian women’s basketball championship, was on the court again in a championship match more than a month and a half ago, when it lost 60:84 to the league leaders Ventspils Spars Sport School (9-2).

The Estonian women’s problems were a higher number of turnovers (33-22) and an inferiority in forfeit fights (33-46). The opponents scored 26 free throws compared to 8 for our girls.

On the Audentes side, Keandra Koorits returned as a protagonist, collecting 26 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 interceptions in 32 minutes. Sille-Liis Mölder added 9 points and 3 steals

Laura Igare scored 24 points and 3 steals, the top scorer of the Ventspils women’s team, Annija Zvirgzdina, collected 21 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, and Kristine Hodzhijeva contributed 12 points and 6 assists.

According to the current schedule, Audentes Sports Gymnasium’s next match is scheduled for January 31, when it will play against the second-ranked women’s team BK Jelgava-BJSS (8-2).
