Until we meet again! This year several famous public figures have left us: TV3

Henry Salmon – May 10th

Singer, artist and songwriter Henry Laks died last May at the age of 62. The musician was known as a soloist of the band Seitsmes Meel. Laks’ most famous songs are “Tule kui lebe tuul”, “Kevadele”, “Hoia mu poole”, “Ilmaratas” (performed at the 2019 general song party) and “Teacher”.

Väino Arena – 19 April

Väino Aren, a long-time ballet and operetta soloist of the Estonian Theatre, has died at the age of 89. In addition to the theater, the actor was also loved on the television screen, playing the character Kristjan in the series “Ünne 13” for decades.

Olaf Suuder – June 6

The well-known television and radio journalist Olaf Suuder left us at the beginning of the summer. In recent decades he has worked at Kanal 2, where he was presenter of the news program “Reporter”. He was also involved in acting and took part in the Estonian detective series “Sled Dogs”.

Black Aadu – July 20

Aadu Must was an Estonian historian and politician, a long-time member of the Riigikogu. He was a professor of archival studies at the Institute of History and Archeology of the University of Tartu. His daughter is the well-known politician Kadri Simson.

Ita Ever – 9 August

The legendary actor passed away on August 9th at the age of 92. Ita has been an actor of Estonian drama theater since 1953. During his life Ita participated in both theater and TV until the end of his life.

Marek Kalmus – October 14

In October, the well-known private trainer and former bodybuilder Marek Kalmus died, unfortunately due to a serious illness.

Kaia Iva – November 3

In early November, Kaia Iva, the last mayor of Turi, member of the Riigikogu, minister, knight of the county coat of arms of Järva and honorary citizen of the municipality of Turi, died after a long and serious illness.
