VIDEO ⟩ A small Cessna airliner took off leaving the pilots far behind

This isn’t the first time an unmanned aircraft has taken off. Military planes and helicopters with a robot added to the control system have also been tested in the past. In the United States, for example, the large Black Hawk attack helicopter made its test flight, which is otherwise like a normal helicopter, but the control system is controlled by artificial intelligence or by a pilot on the ground .

Cessna’s autonomous flight technology includes avionics, software, mechanical control, communications, remote command interfaces and a backup system. A similar solution allowed the remotely piloted Cessna 172 Skyhawk to taxi, take off and land in September 2019.

Initially, it is planned to use such unmanned aircraft for cargo transportation, so that passengers do not have to hear in the cabin the greeting of the pilot, who today works remotely from his home office. The transport of goods is also monitored by a pilot on the ground just in case and, if necessary, intervenes from a control panel similar to a game console.
