Russian forces attacked Kharkiv for the fourth consecutive day yesterday, using S-300 missiles launched from the Belgorod region, The Kyiv Independent reported.
At the time of the attack, more than 30 civilians were known to be staying at the hotel located in central Kharkiv, and both visitors and staff were injured.
“One rocket hit the ground near the facade of the building and the other hit the roof of the building, as a result the rear part of the hotel was partially destroyed,” said Kharkov region governor Oleh Sõnjehubov.
Freelance journalist Sergio Olmos described how the hotel in question was like a second home for him.
“I stayed here during every trip to Kharkiv, sometimes I lived in the hotel for weeks. The family and staff of this place made me and many other journalists feel safe and at home even on the darkest nights. I have never felt like this grateful to a hotel before,” he wrote.
