“We are used to seeing all sorts of strange and unexpected things in our work, but this scene also surprised us a little,” read the post from Jõhvi police station.
“Yesterday the surveillance camera of the Jõhvi police station recorded a strange driving trajectory, when a gentleman driving a Volkswagen drove his passenger along the most direct route, directly in front of the entrance to the station’s service hall of Jõhvi, using the stairs intended for pedestrians.”
Although no one was injured as a result of the gentleman’s driving error, the police subsequently contacted him and investigated the specific reasons why he had decided to use the stairs instead of the driveway.
“Among other things, the driver was reminded that when traveling by car he should carefully follow road signs and, in any case, drive on the road and not along the stairs. As it turned out from the conversation, the man himself was shocked since the accident, to put it mildly, and it was not a polite gesture but a mistake. The man admitted his mistake and promised to be more careful in the future,” explains the police station.
