Žalgiris started the match with a powerful 12-0 run and won the first quarter with 20:14. At halftime the Lithuanians led for 43:35, and in the third quarter they even led by as much as 16 points at times.
At the beginning of the decisive quarter the hosts’ lead was reduced to 66:55, but the final quarter once again belonged to Žalgiris. Two minutes before the end, the Lithuanians’ lead was already 17 points, and when the siren sounded, the numbers on the scoreboard shone 98:75.
Keenan Evans had a team-best 21 points and seven assists. Laurynas Birutis and Brady Manek added 16 and 14 points, respectively. Birutis also grabbed 10 rebounds.
From Fenerbahce, Lorenzo Wilbekin, author of six long-range shots (out of 11), reached 22 points.
“I’m happy for my players, they needed an evening like this. We played a great game from everyone, which was of the utmost importance. We work for this every day”, the coach of the maximum praised his players Lithuanian club Andrea Trinchieri in a flash interview after the match.
Žalgiris achieved their eighth victory in addition to 14 defeats, which currently puts them in 16th place. Fenerbahce (13-9) is fifth.
