VILJANDI ⟩ The new year brings restrictions on parking times in the market car park and future fees

From 15 January you can park for free for two hours in the Viljandi market car park. It is not possible to purchase more paid parking time, such as in the Centrum car park, at least for the moment, and you have to move the car from the market car park to somewhere else after two hours at most. If this is not done, the fine imposed for violating parking regulations must be taken into account, the amount of which is currently 20 euros in the city of Viljandi. A municipal official will supervise the parking.

Viljandi Mayor Madis Timpson said that the parking issue has been discussed several times in meetings between representatives of the city and the hospital, and that the reason for the current decision is the fact that the construction of the hospital is It has been completed in full swing for some time and, due to construction work, part of the parking lot is occupied. This means that due to cars being left in the parking lot for too long, the others will no longer be able to park anywhere. “We have already seen this during the development of Uku centre, that the construction works will take up some of the car park and there will be a shortage of parking spaces,” Timpson said.
