Äripäiv deputy director Aivar Hundimägi, in a program summarizing Estonia’s political year, said that since there was no discussion about tax increases in society before the elections and decisions were made hastily, the politicians’ credibility has been damaged.

According to Hundimäe, the end of the year has once again demonstrated that it makes no sense to read party programs before elections. “There was no tax increase in the programs and I feel deceived. What happened seriously damaged the credibility of the politicians, because the decisions were made hastily,” explained Hundimägi, underlining that with such hasty decisions we can shoot ourselves in the foot in our country too.

However, Äripäiv journalist Laura Saks, who participated in the program, confirmed that, according to her perception, the voter was not deceived, because it was clear to everyone that the budget situation needed to be improved. “But I would have liked to hear the debate,” Saks also confirmed.

In the last program of the year “Politicians’ Desk” we summarized the year of internal politics, analyzed what was done, expressed our opinion and also listened to excerpts of the promises and thoughts expressed by politicians during the year.

The presenter was Lauri Leet.
