WEATHER REPORT | Snow clouds are expanding and strong winds and blizzards are expected

On Saturday night (13.01) the high pressure area will become more active for a while and the chances of rain will be lower. The air temperature drops to around -10°C on the islands, to -15°C on the mainland, sometimes down to -20°C. In the morning a new low pressure reaches the Gulf of Bothnia, and along its edge the snow clouds reach the islands during the day and expand on the mainland, it will blow, because the winds from the south and south-east will become strong. The air temperature is -4..-9 in the western part of Estonia, -10..-14°C in most of mainland Estonia.

On Sunday (14.01) the low pressure will expand over Estonia and bring more snow, at night there will also be a snowstorm, because the wind is strong and blows from the south and south-east. During the day the wind weakens, in the evening on the islands it turns from the north-west and strengthens. The air temperature is -3..-9°C at night in the western outskirts of Estonia, -10..-14°C in the interior of the continent, during the day it rises to 0..-3°C on the islands, up to -5..-10°C on the mainland.

On Monday (15.01) low pressure will move over Estonia. It snows occasionally. The wind blows from the south, during the day it turns north and becomes stronger. At night the air temperature is -2..-8°C, it will drop in the afternoon starting from the north-west of Estonia.

On Tuesday (16.01), Estonia will be on the edge of a low pressure zone moving away from Russia. Snow flurries are rarer. A moderate and strong wind blows from the west on the coast. The air temperature is -10..-15°C at night, sometimes it can drop to -20°C in the internal areas of the continent, it is milder on the coasts of the islands, rising up to -5.. -10 °C during the day, we will probably be a few degrees below -10°C in Virumaa C.

On Wednesday (17.01) the influence of low pressure diminishes, the chance of rain decreases and the wind weakens. The air temperature drops to -12..-18°C at night, remains above -10°C on the coast, -3..-7°C on the islands during the day, -8..-12°C in the internal areas of the continent. In the evening, low pressure approaches from the Baltic Sea, the southerly wind becomes stronger, snow clouds reach the islands and the air temperature rises.
