Pescara, the home club of Estonian national team midfielder Georgi Tunjov, achieved their biggest win of the Serie C season, beating Pontedera 5-0 on foreign soil.
Everything became clear already in the first half, when Luigi Cuppone opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour of play, Davide Merola scored the second goal in the 38th minute and Lorenzo Milani the third goal in the 44th minute. When Merola scored his second goal and Pescara’s fourth in the 55th minute, Zdenek Zeman also brought Tunjov onto the field in the 58th minute. Ten minutes later Christian Tommasini completed the final score.
Since the beginning of October, Pescara, who have won only one of their eight league matches and have collected only five points out of a possible 24, had defeated Virtus Entella on Saturday and are now winning for the second time in a row. They will have to play three matches in eight days, as they will face Olbia at home on Saturday.
Pescara is fifth in the standings, ahead of new opponent Pontedera by four points. They are still about ten points behind leaders Cesena, but Perugia, for example, who are in third place, are only two points ahead of leaders Cesena.
