Winter Survival Tips: Dress Warm, Harden Up, and Slow Down | People

Musicians Uku Suviste and Sandra Vabarna and actor and theater director Andres Dvinjaninov shared tips on winter survival in “Terevision.”

Singer Uku Suviste: Dress warmly

“What are my tips for surviving the winter? I’m a big cold eater. So I always have to have a hundred pairs of underwear, sweaters, shirts and gloves on hand,” said singer Uku Suviste. “Yes, I have my whips, I walked around like a beaver. You definitely have to be full in winter, you have to sleep for a long time, it helps to cope with the cold. My drink this winter was glögg, that is, a kind of hot drink that helps fight the cold. What do I like to do in winter? I like snowboarding, walking, skating and of course driving.”

Actor and theater director Andres Dvinjaninov: keep warm, keep warm or do not be afraid of the cold

“My advice for surviving the winter is nothing special. I know three options for survival: keep warm, keep warm or don’t be afraid of the cold,” explained Andres Dvinjaninov, actor and director of the Karlova Theater. “It’s easy to keep warm, woolen socks, stove heating, a hot sauna. To keep warm I suggest shoveling snow, walking in nature, skiing, skating and other sports activities. And now comes the most important thing: do not Don’t be afraid of the cold. An intelligent person is known to be adaptable. When it is cold outside, you have to adapt yourself, the immune system must be ready for the cold. If we come from India or Thailand, we get sick quickly because our immune system has gotten used to something else. That’s why I recommend a sauna and an ice hole. Without a sauna I haven’t reached the level of an ice hole yet.”

Musician Sandra Vabarna: Enjoy the winter weather and slow down a little

“My advice for survival is to walk while jumping, it’s immediately hot,” reflects musician Sandra Vabarna. “But to be serious, many things are stuck in our way of thinking. We should not think that it is so bad, cold and so much snow, but think about what positive can be done with it. I discovered a snowpark in Tartu. We need to find enjoyable ways to be active outdoors. One of my tips for survival is to take it a little easier in the winter. In the old days, people rested in the winter and worked in the fields in the summer, but for us it was the on the contrary. In summer we rest and in winter we work a lot. Even nature rests in winter. I slowed down my pace of life at the beginning of January. I rested at home, read books, away from screens. Enjoy winter weather and slows down a bit.”
