With the support of the included budget a climbing wall will be built on Pärnu beach

When the votes were counted, the climbing wall had the support of 638 lime trees and 610 inhabitants of the summer capital voted for the construction of the pedalo field.

According to Mari Maisla, a team member of the non-profit organization Ronimaa, who presented the winning idea project, there was a tough battle between the supporters of the two ideas that received the most votes, where supporters of both worked ideas hard and publicized their plan over the weekend.

“The leaders of both projects promoted their ideas very hard on social media, but the victory was probably helped by the community of climbing enthusiasts, who in recent days spread the word and invited friends and acquaintances to vote,” Maisla thought.

According to Maisla, there are a few dozen active climbing enthusiasts who go to train in Märjamaa or Tallinn every week in the summer capital. “There would probably be more hobbyists, but not everyone can travel that far for exercise,” she said.

For this reason, Ronimaa plans to build a climbing center in Pärnus which, according to Maisla, could open its doors in autumn.

“When it turned out that the idea of an outdoor climbing wall could be submitted to an inclusive budget competition, we thought it would be really great if Pärnus was a place where this area could be enjoyed for free,” Maisla said.
