Georgi Tunjov’s Pescara were eliminated from the Serie C Cup competition after having to concede a 2-0 lead to Catania.
Pescara’s most notable absence was that of coach Zdenek Zeman, who suffered a minor stroke before training on Tuesday morning. The 76-year-old football legend was taken to hospital and, fortunately, his condition has now stabilised.
In Zeman’s absence, Pescara was coached by assistant coach Giovanni Bucaro, under whose leadership Tunjov and his teammates lasted 67 minutes, but in the remaining time they still allowed two unanswered goals to be scored.
Tunjov was replaced for the break in the 78th minute, when the score was 0:1. The midfielder, who has played 16 matches for the Estonian national team, shares first place in the club’s top scorers: both he and striker Luigi Cuppone have scored six goals.
