“The commune where I live and work”

After ruling out his candidacy to regain the mayoralty of Santiago, currently led by Irací Hassler (PC), and after the leak of a controversial audio in which he referred to the current mayor, the former mayor of the capital, Felipe Alessandri (RN), confirmed his candidacy to become the next communal chief of Lo Barnechea.

In recent weeks, the political panorama in Lo Barnechea has been shaken by the announcement of the current mayor, Cristóbal Lira (UDI), who announced his decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming October elections. According to Lira, this determination responds to “personal and family” reasons.

Lira’s resignation from re-election generated a strong stir on the right, triggering a rapid movement of chips between the different parties that make up the Chile Vamos coalition.
