Police arrest two suspected Russian spies in Bavaria

The German Federal Criminal Police Office has arrested two suspected agents with links to Russia in Bayreuth. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office said that the two Russian-German citizens are strongly suspected of having worked for foreign secret services in a particularly serious case. Access took place in Bavaria on Wednesday; German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock summoned the Russian ambassador in response to the arrests.
The defendants are German-Russian citizens Dieter S. and Alexander J. The Bavarian state criminal police searched their homes and places of work. According to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, Dieter S. has been in contact with an intermediary who is “linked to the Russian secret services” since October. He is said to have told him about sabotage operations in Germany. The goal was apparently to cut off massive German military aid to Ukraine, which was being attacked by Russia.
Dieter S. agreed to carry out attacks with explosives and arson, “especially on infrastructure used by military and industrial sites,” according to the statement from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. Strong sympathy for Russia
