“You should be ashamed!” Mo Salah, who posted a photo of a Christmas tree on social media, infuriated Muslims

Liverpool football club star Mohamed Salah posted a photo of a Christmas tree on Instagram and wished his followers a Merry Christmas. “Christmas is a time when families come together and celebrate. There is a brutal war going on in the Middle East, especially death and destruction in the Gaza Strip, so this year our hearts are full of sadness and we share the pain with those who have lost their loved ones. Please don’t forget them and let’s not get used to suffering all this. Merry Christmas,” wrote Salah, 31, one of the most famous Muslim athletes in the world.

However, many fans who share the Egyptian religion did not approve of this message, in fact the footballer was indignant. According to several Muslims, the act was simply embarrassing.

“It’s rude of you because you are Muslim, not Christian. Our Christmas is in April. Brother, you should be ashamed,” one of them wrote.

“Mo, even as an Arsenal fan I loved you. I thought you were a great player and an inspiration. But after this post I can no longer consider you my role model. I’m disappointed,” another added.

“You are a disgrace to the Muslim world,” added a third.

True, there were also messages of support under the post. Although Muslims generally do not celebrate Christmas, Salah is swimming against the tide for the second year in a row. Also last year the Liverpool player was attacked because he had posed with his family under the Christmas tree.
