Choreographers Ruta Ronja Pakalne and Laura Kvelstein present another collaborative production, which takes inspiration from their previous joint project “connext”, which also received the annual theater award.
The new performance is entitled “Landscape. Body. State of Mind” and, according to the authors, it is a space-visual poem that denies the prejudice according to which the body alone is not sufficient to create a dance show. On stage there are five performers with different backgrounds and body memories.
According to director and performer Laura Kvelstein, they wanted to offer the audience a sensory and physical experience. “From the beginning we took it for granted that in this room, at the moment of the performance, not the bodies of the five of us, the composer and the lighting designer, but also all those bodies who come to see are equally important partners and collaborators in that moment of performance,” Kvelstein said.
According to Ruta Ronja Pakals the idea was to reopen the world after the pandemic. “After covid, people were living in their own world. We are trying to open it now. We are opening this space through poetry,” Pakalne explained.
