Žalgiris is not going through an easy period. The season started well with three wins in four games, but then their luck changed. Also in the Lithuanian championship they suffered two defeats, which did not even give them the first position. So a change of coach wouldn’t be surprising at all, but for now it won’t happen yet.
The Lithuanian basketball portal BasketNews writes that this morning the Žalgiris locker room was full of emotions. The Žalgiris players gathered for training called the club’s managers to the mat and announced that they did not agree with Maksvytis’ dismissal. Afterwards the players headed to the dressing room with Maksvytis to start preparing for the next match while the club officials were left to think.
Soon the official message came from Žalgiris that, despite the fact that many articles about the change of coach appeared in the media, Maksvytis will remain in charge.
After yesterday’s match there were a lot of rumors and speculation. We would like to assure you that coach Kazys Maksvytis has the full trust of the club and will continue to lead the team! 💚 pic.twitter.com/rc7lC8qasp

BasketNews adds that Trinchier had already shaken his hand on Thursday evening and that the club was preparing to receive him in Kaunas.
The CEO of Žalgiris, former legendary player Paulius Jankunas, will also hold a press conference today.
