A 13-year-old snooker prodigy defeated a professional tour player | Billiards and billiards

At the Snooker Shoot Out in Swansea, Wales’ second largest city, 13-year-old Shaun Liu made a big surprise.

The Shoot Out tournament is usually played with different rules, because superiority is determined by only one game. Liu, who plays under the Hong Kong flag, earned a free pass to the tournament when he won this year’s England Under-14 Championship. In the opening round of the Shoot Out tournament, Liu faced world number 101 Ishpreet Singh Chadha and won the match 57:52.

Liu couldn’t believe his victory. “At first I was a little nervous, but I did my best. I didn’t expect to win. I just wanted to have fun playing here. I feel good and I think the crowd likes me,” he said after the match.

The talented future creator also revealed who he was named after. “Many thanks to my parents for bringing me here from Sheffield. My mum loves Shaun Murphy and that’s why she called me Shaun!”

In Swansea, England’s Chris Wakelin (WS 23rd) is competing as the defending champion, who defeated China’s Pang Junxu (WS 32nd) 72:62 in the opening round. Andres Petrov (WS 99th) will also take part in the tournament, who will meet Welshman Jamie Clarke (WS 54th) in the opening round on Thursday.
