The fraud has reached enormous proportions and the criminals act extremely cunningly, because the valves are accompanied by a purchase document that seems authentic and also the Apple page itself shows that these are devices with a valid warranty.
To the Genius subscriber
Genius was recently written by a concerned reader whose friend purchased AirPods Pro 2 headphones from the secondary market. The transaction took place from hand to hand in the Tallinn sports club, where the young man handed over the keys.
The serial number on the AirPods box matched the number visible in the headphones settings on the phone, and the headphones were also under warranty. The same information was also present on Apple’s product review website. The buyer also received an iDeal purchase receipt.
However, when he opened the box, he found that these were fake headphones, because they were missing several functions when connecting to the iPhone, and the headphones’ construction and sound quality and noise reduction did not meet expectations.
