Aleksandr Selevko set a powerful record at the European Figure Skating Championships

Selevko, who took to the ice in 15th place, succeeded in all the jumps of the short program: four approach, triple axis and three in cascade lutz and three approach – and earned a whopping 90.05 points from the judges.

It is worth noting that Selevko’s previous maximum score was 83.58, which is almost seven points lower. At best, he earned 158.74 points in the free skate, and the overall score in the best competition is 238.42 points.

“Everything went as I wanted. I made a clean program, but the scores surprised me: I didn’t expect such a score,” he commented on his performance live on ETV.

While many athletes have complained about the quality of the ice laid out at the Žalgiris basketball stadium in Kaunas, according to Selevko he and his brother are completely satisfied with it. “The conditions here offered beautiful emotions. I hope the audience understood what spectacle I wanted to convey with the short film,” he said.

Speaking about the free plan, Selevko did not want to talk about possible locations or points. “I hope to have a clean run,” said the skater participating in the third EC, whose best result so far – 16th – comes from 2020.

By the time there were 12 other athletes taking to the ice in Kaunas, Selevko was in the lead, but obviously the big favorites led by Adam Siao Him Fa, Matteo Rizzo and Lukas Britschg have not had their say yet.

We are also waiting for the performance of Aleksandr’s younger brother Mihhail Selevko.
