Alexander Chaplygin: If the population’s standard of living collapses, officials could pay for it with their bonuses

Listen, what are these “good results” for which we reward officials?! Has prosperity begun in our country? A quarter of the population lives in poverty, while there are 50 thousand people in absolute poverty – including those who have to cope with less than 300 euros a month – and their number has tripled in the last two years.

The task of every public official is to guarantee, first and foremost, the good of citizens through public administration. Since people are now having a bad time, it means that officials are unable to do their jobs. And in such a situation, the State takes away benefits from large families and pays bureaucrats a total of millions of euros in bonuses! Against the background of all this, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas says that the teachers’ strike cannot be avoided because there is no money in the state budget. Yes, it’s all a question of priorities.
