Janne Reits, director of pet shop Bosse, said creating an e-store was a natural development for the company.
The company began operating in 1993 initially with a bar in via Laial. The café was doing well until one day an acquaintance from the pet trade in Åland proposed the idea of starting to sell pet products too. “After much hesitation, we rented a three-meter sales counter in one of the supermarkets in the center to test the success of product sales. Since the feedback was surprisingly positive, we opened the first shop in the lobby opposite the cafe and, after a while, we opened new stores in the shopping centers under construction. The cafe was left aside and we continued to develop only the pet trade,” he recalled.
Creation of an electronic store
According to Reitsi, creating an e-shop was a natural development that follows world trends. “The Estonian market is extremely small and it makes no sense to have a store in an area where there are too few buyers. The only option in this case is to offer your products via the e-store,” she explained. When they created the e-shop, they first started creating a strategy. It was necessary to decide how the e-shop would work and which would be the most convenient for customers.
