Brighton had their first clean sheet of the season | Soccer

The last match of the 20th round took place on Tuesday in the English Premier League, where West Ham United and Brighton drew goalless.

Although visiting Brighton had 68% possession and had 22 shots to West Ham’s eight, they were unable to break down the hosts’ defence. West Ham kept a fourth consecutive clean sheet, their longest clean sheet since 2014. Brighton, on the other hand, had their first clean sheet of the season.

“I am very satisfied with the final result,” began Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi. “We deserved to win. We played a very intelligent game because West Ham are more dangerous on the counterattack and we didn’t allow them to start the counterattack. It was one of our best games in my time at Brighton.”

37-year-old Brighton midfielder James Milner played his 632nd Premier League match and moved into second place on the all-time list alongside Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs. Former Aston Villa and Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry holds the top spot with 653 appearances.

In the table, West Ham are in sixth place with 34 points and Brighton are in seventh place with 31 points.
