In her YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date, singer and actress Cher revealed why she believes she managed to avoid heartbreak. The Oscar winner was married twice: to singer Sonny Bono from 1964 to 1975 and to musician Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979. Cher also had affairs with stars such as Tom Cruise and Richie Sambora. However, the singer believes that despite her relationship baggage, she has been lucky when it comes to heartbreak.
“My heart hasn’t been broken many times,” Cher revealed. “Almonst never.” When the host asked her what advice she would give women about relationships, the star replied: “Date a younger man.”
That’s exactly what Cher, now back in a relationship with singer Alexander Edwards, 37, is doing. Doubts about a possible relationship between Cher and Edwards arose in the first week of November last year, when they had dinner together at a Hollywood restaurant. However, in the spring of this year, rumors spread that the couple had broken up and had not been seen together in public for some time. However, since the fall, the couple has once again been hand in hand at numerous major events.
Last year, Cher shared on Kelly Clarkson’s TV show that if she hadn’t met younger men in her life, she wouldn’t have been in a relationship. “Older men just didn’t like me,” she admitted. “I had a couple of friends who were around my age, but for some reason they didn’t really like me.”
