Coach of the Year Henry Hein: It’s no secret that we don’t agree with Enel | I swim

Swimming coach Henry Hein, who won the Estonian coach of the year title, spoke on the Betsafe podcast about Jefimova’s future thoughts.

Under Heina’s guidance, 16-year-old Eneli Jefimova won a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke at the European Short Course Swimming Championships last December, becoming the first Estonian to win a gold medal, as well as a silver in the 50 m. frog. At the junior titles, Jefimova won six more medals and the highlight of the summer was sixth place at the world championships, where she also reached the Olympic distance final for the first time. Also, in the spring, Jefimova became the first Estonian athlete to meet the A standard of the Paris Olympics.

Jefimova has 28 weeks or almost seven months left before her first start at the Olympic Games. “We currently swim a lot of backstroke, but also backstroke and other styles. For breaststroke, we only do high-quality work and very solid technical exercises. Maybe if you see someone swimming a normal breaststroke, Eneli only swims 0 meters in continue like this The same volume that we don’t shovel like a frog,” says Hein.

According to Heina, the Paris Olympics can be considered a success when Eneli achieves her personal best in swimming. “In this sense in swimming it’s easy, we have precise times. If you swim with a personal best in the semi-final or final, we can’t ask for more. This is an Estonian record, the best result ever at Age. This is what we chase. If in the final he reaches the Estonian swimming record and is seventh, I can be sad or angry, but we must be satisfied, because he gave his all. My work is moving towards these times.”

While the young swimmer is preparing for the Olympics, he is also quietly thinking about entering university, which is still a year and a half away, but according to the athlete, a clear decision has been made. The plan is to go to the University of North Carolina in the United States.

“It’s no secret that we don’t agree with him about the place at the university, purely from a swimming point of view. There are certainly very good coaches and cooperation can work, but at his level he would have options with the number 1 coaches in the world”, explains Hein and adds that they will talk about it in more depth with Enel after the Olympic Games.
