Daniel Levi: I feel like my best songs are yet to come | Music

With his song “Over the Moon” Daniel Levi reached the top five of the Estonian song, that is, directly into the final. According to Levi, Eurovision is not a separate life goal for him, but something through which he can develop as a songwriter.

“200 songs and then to somehow be among the five that made it to the final is a very special recognition for me,” said Daniel Levi. According to him, he has not yet listened to all the songs that came to Eesti Laulu, but he noted that he really liked the song of 5minus and Puuluub.

“There was no pressure, but I felt that in the end, every song finds the people it needs to reach, and it’s out of my control, so I don’t worry about that,” Levi said.

On stage at Eesti Laulu, Levi plans to let the song do the talking. “In the case of this story, I don’t think it would be too theatrical…show‘ga, I’d keep it minimalist. You don’t want to make a fuss. I wish this song came out more,” the singer thought.

Levi admitted that he wrote “Over the Moon” as a children’s lullaby. “I was putting the kids to sleep and I was a little tired of the other lullabies we have and I started humming a melody and after a while the same melody started haunting me,” Levi said, adding that at first it was a is not afraid of being laughed at in the studio when he sings his lullaby and appears there with an idea.

However, Victor Crone and Vallo Kikas came up with the idea and the final song of the Estonian song was born. “I’m very happy with the final result. It’s a very important song for me and it’s nice if it becomes a nice song for someone else too,” Levi said.

At the beginning the singer wasn’t sure at all whether to publish the song, because according to Levi it didn’t fit perfectly with the album, so for the moment it remained in the drawer, but shortly before the deadline, the singer felt that he had to send the song anyway song in Eesti Laulu. “It was great to hear the feedback from the jury that they liked it and was chosen as one of the top five,” he said.

Eurovision is neither a dream nor a goal in itself for Levi. “My goal is to develop as a music writer. I feel that my best songs are yet to come. I think performing at Eurovision would give me much more as a music writer,” he thought.
