Derby rivalry and real life on the example of Kallaste: Flora is not Celtic, Levadia is not Rangers – Soccernet.ee

The latest episode of Soccernet.ee’s podcast “Pikk ette (e ise nael)” analyzed Ken Kallaste’s transfer from FC Flora to the ranks of arch-rival FCI Levadia. Understand or condemn?

“There was already talk at the end of last season that this would probably happen, but now there has been a video that has greatly upset Flora’s fans. Ken Kallaste understood this and in an interview with Soccernet.ee he also said directly if they are bad, let them live with him”, Kasper Elissaar recalled the course of events. “Flora’s fans did not like the fact that the man joined the rival’s ranks.

Kristjan Jaak Kangur suggested that it was mainly in the mentioned video clip. “Otherwise I would have survived anyway. Even Markus Jürgenson went and once said that he would not wear this shirt. If life forces him… If you play in Estonia and have the level to play at the highest level, there are not many options Another club offers you a contract and you are between two options: either I am unemployed because of the principles and tell my wife at home that at least there are principles, put them on your bread, or you will still go…” he reasoned.

“What, of course, went wrong in the video and what Kallaste didn’t even mean to say: he didn’t do it either, Levadia did it, and they had to do a little jab too. But the nice thing is that Kallaste has Honestly said: I made a mistake, sorry friends. It’s a completely normal reaction not to start making faces,” Kangur added.

Ott Järvela discovered that when Flora approached a member of the Levadia national team, it was completely normal that they were happy about it. “But there are two different worlds here. One is the one that Flora fans or the Fifth Sector or whoever is angry about that wants to live and edit. The other is the real world where we actually live and edit. And of course they take as an example the big derbies from abroad, where there are fundamental relationships, for example between Celtic and Rangers, individual players have moved over the centuries, because it is fundamental.

But it is an ideal to strive for. Real life in Estonia is different. Elsewhere such transfers are decidedly more unthinkable than in Estonia, because when a footballer leaves Celtic, he has many potential suitors considering his level. It’s not like the Rangers are nearly the only bidder. However, in Estonia it is different. We also add the factor of relocation, which for foreign players is completely different considering the level of salaries,” Järvela noted.
