“Since my parents both worked in cultural-related fields, it was inevitable that sometimes the working days would get longer and traveling with them was more the rule than the exception,” said Marta Lotta.
“I also remember my very good family friends, with whom I spent most of my days when we were not in kindergarten or school,” Kukk said. Marta’s family friends lived on the next street, and sometimes she and her sister would come through the door unannounced. The singer says that her childhood was full of adventures: he climbed the apple trees in the garden and was trampled in puddles on rainy summer days.
However, there is a special period for Marta Lotta, since her childhood, and perhaps that is why as a parent she was very self-aware and did things without consulting her parents. “When I was six years old, I started going to kindergarten in Saarepeed by bus. In the morning my mother would send me to the bus station and the educators were already in front of Saarepeed. But this feeling that now I go alone and I don’t have to know which stop to get off at.” The rooster states that today it seems even incredible that such a small child would have done such a thing. “But I’m grateful that difficult situations were resolved this way. She made me the person I am today.”
Music has been an integral part of the Rooster family. “Whether it’s theatre, traditional music camps, organizing concerts or anything else. It’s always been there!”
Marta has a very close bond with her older sister. But it wasn’t always like this: as children they often fought. So much so that after her sister left home, there was a breakdown in their communication for several years. “But time heals wounds! When she was expecting her first child, our bond was re-established and now my sister is one of my closest friends,” Kukk said. They call each other almost every day to talk about their worries and joys. “Since I have been very busy (especially in the last six months), these calls are also the only way to see my granddaughters,” Marta revealed.
