Embiid scored 70 points against San Antonio | basketball

In the NBA basketball league, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Antonio Spurs at home 133:123 (34:35, 28:23, 42:31, 29:34). Among the winners, Joel Embiid had a great performance, scoring 70 points for the 76ers.

Embiid, who was selected as the league’s Most Valuable Player last season, was on the court for 37 minutes and scored a career-high 70 points (23/39 from two, 1/2 from three, 21/23 from free throws), 18 rebounds (9 offensive), five assists, one interception and one scoop.

Embiid became the first and ninth man ever to score at least 70 points in an NBA game this season. He also tied the 76ers single-game scoring record, previously held by Wilt Chamberlain (68 points). The NBA record is still held by Chamberlain, who scored exactly 100 points against the Philadelphia Warriors in March 1962.

“I’m actually a little angry because I missed a lot of easy shots,” Embiid said after the game. “Wilt did a lot and it’s nice to be mentioned in the same sentence with him. I simply had a fantastic evening. The only thing I asked of my teammates was not to pass me the ball at all costs. I told them that still has to be a team to play.”

In addition to Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris also contributed to the 76ers’ victory with 18 points and 14 points. Newcomer Victor Wembanyama was the Spurs’ most successful player with 33 points and seven rebounds.

The 76ers (29-13), who achieved their sixth consecutive victory, continue to be in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Spurs (8-35) are 15th, or last, in the Western Conference.

In addition to Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns also had a brilliant game last night, scoring 62 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2 points 11/20, three points 10/15, free throws 10/14).

Despite Towns setting the club’s single-game scoring record, the Timberwolves still had to concede the Charlotte Hornets’ superiority 128-125 (32-34, 32-35, 28-38, 36-18). Miles Bridges and rookie Brandon Miller led the winners with 28 and 27 points, respectively.
