Estonia is ready to extradite men of mobilization age to Ukraine

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans to recall military-age men who fled Ukraine at the start of the full-scale war to replace them with veteran soldiers. Estonia has repeatedly wanted to conclude an agreement with Ukraine on the extradition of fugitives.

As the Ukrainian counteroffensive appears to be stalling, up to 500,000 more troops are needed, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Therefore, Ukrainians who fled to other countries since the outbreak of full-scale war are also being searched for. For example, Germany announced that it will not support Ukraine in this. However, Estonia would gladly extradite the refugees. “If Ukraine needs him, Estonia can take care of finding this person and handing him over to Ukraine. In the big picture, we know where these individuals are, what they are doing. Many of them, most of them go to work, have residency in Estonia,” said Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets. Although no official request has been received from Ukraine, the Interior Ministry has repeatedly appealed to both the Ukrainian ambassador and the Ukrainian Interior Minister to report the refugees if necessary, ERR reports.
