Estonian youth hockey players lost to Slovenia at the Ice Hockey World Cup

The Estonian Under-20 ice hockey team lost to Slovenia 2:5 (0:2, 1:2, 1:1) in the third match of the WC Division I Group B tournament in Bled and continues the tournament without points.

At the start of the first third the Slovenians took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Lovro Kumanovic and Anze Zezelj, while in the second third the opponents took advantage of two advantages to extend the lead to four goals. At the end of the third period Marek Potsinok scored Estonia’s first goal from Erik Potsinok’s pass, and Slovenia went into the final break with a 4:1 lead, Eesti Hoki reports.

At the end of the last period Yegor Proskurin scored 2:4. The Estonian team eliminated the goalkeeper two minutes before the end, but to no avail and Miha Bericic sent the puck into the empty net to formalize the 5:2 victory. During the match, Estonian national team goalkeeper Cristopher Rembetti blocked 43 shots, while Slovenian cage lock Lan Kavcic blocked 17 opponents’ shots.

Estonia have not scored in three games and continue in sixth place in the subgroup.

Estonia will meet Poland at 1.30pm on Friday and Croatia in the last match of the tournament on Sunday at 1.30pm.
