FOCUS ⟩ Migration and the climate crisis, not war, will become the focus of the European Parliament elections

Ahead of the European Parliament elections, political forces are trying to find out which issues will define European politics in the coming period. At a time when six out of ten citizens believe their country is going in the wrong direction, public opinion is mired in fear and anxiety. To help answer this question, the European Council on Foreign Relations commissioned a study in 11 European countries – Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Romania, Portugal and Estonia – and two European countries outside European Union – Great Britain and Switzerland. Based on the research, we conclude that current policy analysis does not capture the inherent competing traumas that prevail within and across member states.
