HORRIBLE DISCOVERY ⟩ In Finland, a cat broke into a morgue and did something terrifying

Finnish police confirmed to MTV News that a cat that crept into the temporary corpse storage site caused damage to the corpses. Exactly how many have not been published.

“All relatives were contacted as soon as we heard about the incident. What happened is deplorable and we are very sorry,” said Kati Liukko, director of the Iltalehti health department.

It was known to be a stray cat with no connection to the hospital or its staff. The cat was captured and taken to a shelter.

According to Mari Aro Viikin, a representative of the shelter, the cat had probably been homeless for a long time and was wandering around because it was extremely thin.

Hungry animals can eat their master

This summer, Lemmik wrote about a shocking case in Argentina in which starving cats ate their owner’s corpse.

Police officers in the Argentine city of La Plata witnessed a horrific scene when they discovered that a dead man’s body had been visited by his own cats, who had starved to death.

The 59-year-old man lived alone with his cats and, according to local media, had long suffered from heart problems, which probably could have been the cause of his death. Read more here.

In 2017, Lemmik wrote that National Geographic journalist Erika Engelhaupt decided to investigate how pets left alone after the death of their owners fare. She studied a total of 20 cases of animals wearing their host’s skin.

Most of the cases were linked to dogs and were also the most documented. But there were also cases in which cats figured. It is clear that the longer an animal has gone without regular food, the more likely it is to use its host as a meal.
