Hundreds of angel investors are expected to visit Estonia in May

According to Lauri Antalainen, president of EstBAN, this is a unique event that has never taken place in Estonia before and offers an excellent opportunity to present Estonia as a land of unicorns, i.e. start-ups worth at least a billion of US dollars. “During three days you will be able to meet hundreds of people from the startup sector and listen to world-class speakers. At the same time, the main goal is to present Estonia’s success story: we have the largest number of unicorns per population in the world,” says Antalainen.

Dozens of Estonian business angels, company founders and international speakers will take to the stage, with whom they will together introduce the success of the local start-up sector, which started 20 years ago with the creation of Skype and grew into the strong start-up of today. community and influential angel investors. The congress will also focus on companies’ developments in deep and green technology and cyber defense.

According to Jacopo Losso, head of EBAN of the European Business Angels Network, Estonia is a true example in this field. “You understand well how start-ups by their nature and investments in start-ups are modern tools for increasing social and economic well-being,” says Losso.

The organizers expect several hundred business angels, venture capitalists and start-up founders in Tallinn. The event offers new ideas, inspiration and the opportunity to meet key opinion leaders from across Europe. Last year, the EBAN annual conference was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, first in 2022 in Cork, Ireland, then in Brussels, Belgium, and in 2019 in Helsinki, Finland.
