At the end of November Telia informed customers that due to the VAT increase, the prices of all services subject to VAT in the price list will increase. “The change affects Telia’s monthly pay services, minute and volume services, one-off service fees, prices of goods and appliances, campaign and discount offers as well as calling card services,” he informed ‘operator.
We’ve also carried out sample calculations on what the new VAT rate will mean for customers – calculating that operators will add 22% to the current VAT-free price instead of 20%, writes Genius.
For example, users of Telia’s smart package with unlimited data currently pay 35 euros per month, but from the new year it will be 35.58 euros per month. Home Internet at 100 Mbit/s currently costs 27 euros, with the new tax rate of 27.45 euros per month.
Elisa will follow the same path: the increase in the VAT rate will be extended from 1 January 2024 to all services consumed and equipment purchased with a 20% VAT rate.
The current price of 40.99 euros for Elisa’s unlimited smart package will therefore be replaced by a monthly fee of 41.68 euros starting from the new year. From January the monthly fee for domestic Internet at 150 Mbit/s will go from 26.99 euros to 27.44 euros.
