Is this really the new Tinder? A new app can bring matched people together in a much more enjoyable way

At first glance, all of Strava’s features seem very standard for a community-building app, until a potential suitor starts following you.

People typically have far fewer followers on Strava than other apps, mostly because not everyone knows the main route, what you’re doing, or what area you live in. However, this gives a certain advantage if you want to stand out more in your eyes. That is, being able to post photos and show support through comments and tweets can be the best way to connect with someone who shares your interests. People are more comfortable showing themselves on Strava, so to speak, because there is someone there who understands their lifestyle. And on top of that, dating apps have become increasingly annoying: There’s too much pressure, and it can feel like dating is like a job interview after all.

However, many users have complained that the app currently does not have a private or direct messaging feature. While some believe Strava should stick to its original intent of recording activities, others want the ability to connect directly to continue interrupted dialogue during training. People can meet on a group ride and not see each other for three or four weeks, but be on each other’s radar because they can watch each other’s Strava activity. They may feel that they are much more closely related to each other, even if they actually once saw each other playing sports together. Seeing how Strava notifies you every time a follower comments or gives a compliment, it’s easy to guess who might (or might not) be interested.

Dating apps definitely play a role in the dating world, but there has been a welcome shift towards more targeted dating.
