ISW: Russian troops advance in the direction of Bahmut

The Institute of Military Studies (ISW) reported in its latest analysis that Russian forces were advancing in the direction of Bahmut.

Russian troops continue their offensive near Bahmut and advance. Russian troops are also said to have staged a surprise attack in the region and captured some Ukrainian positions. Russian war bloggers also claimed that Russian troops were advancing in the direction of Khromov. Russian airborne troops are also active in the region. The area is located on the northern flank of Bahmut, ISW reported.

The General Staff of Ukraine announced that the country’s army repelled Russian attacks in the direction of Klishchiivka. The settlement is located in the southern wing of Bahmut. According to sources, Ukraine is also organizing counterattacks in the direction of Klishchiivka.

Russian troops continue the offensive also in the direction of Avdijivka. Geotagged footage released on December 6 shows that Russian troops have moved a little further in the direction of Stepove. Russian war bloggers said Russian forces would also continue to attack Ukrainian positions near the Avdijivka coking plant.

Russia bombed the Sumy region

Russia bombed nine settlements in the Sumy region on Thursday. More than 61 explosions took place as a result of the Russian attacks, The Kyiv Independent reported.

Russian forces have continuously shelled Sumy Oblast since April 2022, when it was liberated by Ukrainian forces.

Russia also continues to bomb the Kharkiv region and attack civilian infrastructure in the city of Kharkiv with an S-300 missile. Ukrainian authorities said one person was injured, The Kyiv Independent reported.

Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine, bordering Russia and Donbass. Before the war, almost 1.4 million people lived in Kharkiv.

Australia has sent a new batch of Bushmaster armored personnel carriers to Ukraine

Australia has sent an additional batch of MRAP Bushmaster armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, UNIAN news agency reported.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine thanked Australia for its assistance during the war. The ministry emphasized that in September 2022 these armored vehicles played a decisive role in the successful counteroffensive of the Defense Forces in the Kharkiv region.

“Despite the distance between our countries, we are united by common democratic values. We are especially grateful for the Bushmaster MRAP armored vehicles, which were delivered to the Ukrainian army. In September 2022, the Bushmasters played a decisive role in a counteroffensive of success in the Kharkiv region. Thanks to its resistance to mine explosions, this vehicle saves the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. Furthermore, its good maneuverability and cross-country ability are important when carrying out combat tasks”, reads the note from the ministry.

In late October, Australia delivered a new military aid package to Ukraine. It included, among other things, anti-mine and anti-drone equipment. The total value of the package was 20 million Australian dollars, or approximately 12.8 million US dollars.

In July it became known that Australia would send an E-7A Wedgetail military reconnaissance aircraft to Europe to help Ukraine.
