Jacob Collier and Take 6 will hold a concert in the cultural capital of Tartu

The multitalented 29-year-old Jacob Collier, based in London, has been named by many prestigious publications as one of the most innovative musicians of his generation: his work spans pop, jazz and classical music.

“Collier’s unique sonic language and customized audio solutions inspire many and captivate listeners of all ages,” said the creative director of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Kati Torp. “He is known worldwide especially for his high-energy concerts, where he creates a huge polyphonic choir from the audience. It can be assumed that Collier will also transform the audience of the capital of culture into a large united choir on the Tartu singing stage.”

Collier recorded his debut album “In My Room” from start to finish at his home, with all arrangements written and recorded by the musician himself, and later won two Grammy Awards for the album. He has collaborated with famous names such as Coldplay, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign, Tori Kelly, Daniel Caesar, SZA and many others.

In 2018, Collier began recording Djesse, a four-part album with over 50 songs, each part covering a different musical style. Each of the three albums she has released so far has won a Grammy Award. This made him the only British composer to win a Grammy for each of his first four albums. Collier plans to release the fourth part of Djesse in February.

Together with Collier, on July 18, the winner of ten Grammy Awards and known throughout the world will take to the singing stage in Tartu the chapel vowel six Take 6, who music producer Quincy Jones dubbed “the most accomplished vocal wizards.” Last year they held a joint concert in America, and now the group is in Europe for the first time.

Tickets for Jacob Collier and Take 6 in the European Capital of Culture program will go on sale on January 23 at 10:00 in Piletilevi and Piletikeskus.
